What’s Immersed Playing: Fall Edition

It takes a love of games to make a good game company, and we here at Immersed love ourselves a good video game. Here is a look at what we’ve been playing recently!

April Ray, Lead Game Marketer

Q: What do you like and/or dislike about this game?
I haven’t gotten very far into the game yet, but I love the amount of customization that the game lets you have and the freedom that the game gives you. The game is also very beautiful. Bethesda did an amazing job with the overall look of the game.

Q: Would you recommend it to someone else? Why or why not?
Yes yes yes!! Everyone should play Fallout4! It is a lot of fun and has so much to do that I think everyone will find something they love.

Undertale.

Q: What do you like and/or dislike about this game?
Undertale reminds me of the Earthbound series with its charming 2d pixel sprites and its memorable musical score.  Undertale is an indie game that interacts with the player, like no other game dares to, resulting in an unforgettable RPG experience. Saying anything about the story would be a disservice to anyone who wants to get the best experience out of it.

Q: Would you recommend it to someone else? Why or why not?
I would recommend this game to anyone – casual, serious, hardcore. Being a developer it’s easy to forget what it’s like to not subconsciously critique/understand a game’s features and development. Undertale made me feel like games were magical again – and not just another product of art assets, game code, music, sweat, and tears.

Q: What game have you been playing recently?
Tales from the Borderlands.

Q: What do you like and/or dislike about this game?
Much like the rest of Telltale Games’ catalogue, it’s a choice-based game heavily focused on characters, dialogue, and story with less emphasis on interactive gameplay – so it’s very different from the rest of the Borderlands franchise in that respect. But in my opinion, that actually is an improvement because it’s given much more of a chance to explore the world-building, expand on existing lore, and give dimension to new and old characters. The only gripe (again, a common theme in TTG games) is that the story isn’t as impacted by one’s choices as the marketing might lead you to believe, but really – making games is hard, and most people don’t understand how much work it is to diverge story-lines into significantly different branches. They’re definitely getting more ambitious as they go, though.

Q: Would you recommend it to someone else? Why or why not?
Definitely. I went into the game having never played a Borderlands games before because I didn’t think it would appeal to me, but this one game made me want to learn as much as possible about the world. It’s still my favourite game in the franchise. It’s funny, poignant, awe-inspiring and sincere, and I’ve already strong-armed several of my friends and co-workers into playing it.

Q: What do you like and/or dislike about this game?
Half Life 2 blends story and gameplay in an enjoyable experience.

Q: Would you recommend it to someone else? Why or why not?
Half Life 2 is a staple for the gaming community. It’s a fun, enjoyable game that challenges players in unique ways. For a game that was released 10 years ago, it still holds up today.

The Witcher 3.

Q: What do you like and/or dislike about this game?
I love this game. Just beat it recently and kinda sad to see it go. It probably has the greatest open-world environment I’ve ever seen in a game, fantastic characters with absorbing stories, and gameplay both fun and demanding.

Q: Would you recommend it to someone else? Why or why not?
The Witcher 3 is one of the best games I’ve ever played, and I would recommend it in a heartbeat.
